Welcome to the California Democratic Party Rural Caucus

The mission of the Rural Caucus is to identify and promote rural issues and candidates who are seeking elected and appointed positions at all levels of government. To this end, the Rural Caucus will partner with the CDP, Central Committees, Clubs, Assembly Districts, Regional Directors, and Democratic grassroots organizations to raise Democratic visibility, voter registration, and support candidates and issues.

Voter Registration Drive!
Since last September the CDP has operated a targeted voter registration drive in the overlap areas of Assembly District 5 and Congressional District 3.

In just a few short months, this band of precinct-walking, comfy shoe-wearing Dems has been going door-to-door registering thousands of new Democratic voters and signing up registered Democrats to vote by mail.

On Wednesday, January 13, the team registered the 5,000th new Democratic voter, a terrific start for the 2010 election year! And what’s more, 92% of those new Democratic voter are registered to vote by mail which almost doubles their chances of voting in November!

These new voters and vote-by-mail voters can make such a huge difference on Election Day -- we have a real opportunity to send Dan Lungren home for good and replace Roger Niello with a Democrat who represents our values and not another right-wing politician.

The hard work of this incredible VR team (many of our caucus members have participated in this effort) who have met and succeeded all their goals, and helped the Party mold a lean yet successful registration effort that can be duplicated in many other areas around the state for the 2010 election.

These targeted, ongoing voter registration efforts are making a real difference in the voter rolls. It’s a great example of what the Party can do when we organize, mobilize and Democraticize!

DEM 2010 Campaign
California has reached a tipping point, according to Hilary Crosby (our state party controller).

On issue after issue – the budget, education, offshore drilling, marriage equality and so many others – need to be addressed with an energized California Democratic Party leading the charge.

The CDP team has rolled out an exciting fundraising program to help raise the money:  DEM2010.

What’s DEM2010? It’s simply your commitment to making a monthly contribution to the CDP, of whatever you can afford, so that together we’re all invested in strengthening our Party and our state.

We encourage our members to join in supporting the state party.
