The Rural Caucus of the California Democratic Party will meet Saturday July 17, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. in conjunction with the CDP's Executive Board meeting at San Jose's Holiday Inn, 1740 North First Street.  The assigned caucus meeting room will be posted at the hotel.

The agenda will include:

TOPIC DISCUSSIONS:

1) Prevailing wage issues in rural communities and developing local organizing partnerships around prevailing wage and local hire/project labor agreements between Democratic activists and building trades union leaders. (Guest speaker: Bryan Berthiaume, Foundation for Fair Contracting.  Discussion will include reference to Public Contract Code Section 1103.);

2) Review of coming elections for local office and recruitment of Democratic candidates to fill ballots throughout rural communities.

BUSINESS ITEMS:

1) Reports from Vice-Chairs (per Article III, Sections D and E of Caucus Bylaws);

2) Discussion of support for Democrats running in local races in rural counties;

3) Review of selected legislative and Congressional races with rural components;

4) Approval of minutes from last Rural Caucus meeting;

5) Caucus treasurer's report;

6) Comments regarding November 2010 statewide races and potential input for Democratic nominee campaigns.

There have been no new bylaw changes submitted for action at this meeting of the Rural Caucus.
